@pixelfed you might want to consider registering as non-profit entity, or a "Friends of Pixelfed" non-profit that can donate to Pixelfed/you, so users can get a tax break and donate more. Happy to contribute anyway!

One other suggestion: offer a suggestion donate based on some basic usage. I always have a hard time figuring out what's an appropriate donation to a services I like vs when does it may sense to just buy a similar product. This could be useful for server owners.

@pixelfed I would consider donating if apps were open source and if other services like a random website every now and then, a secure message app etc… were all cut off and funds and resources were concentrated on Pixelfed only.

@pixelfed Hey! Although it's not much (dolar is damn expensive for my currency), I contribute through Open Collective, which is the same way that I contribute to Mastodon. Is that ok? You commented PayPal is the preferred method, and now I'm a bit worried that the contribution is being lost on fees. PayPal do not work that well here, but I can try to figure something that work better for you

You conceal from your users the fact that you’ve allowed Cloudflare see the traffic of your users surreptitiously.. and then you ask for donations? The only thing needed here is a bounty to be CF-free.
