Just like “dude” is gender neutral.

@Truffles @maggiemaybe language just defaults to masculinity for *reasons* @katve @maggiemaybe homo (person) + humus (earth) = humanus (person of the earth) became human, became man. ‘Mankind’ and ‘humanity’ are usually the same idea. ‘Guys’ comes from Guy Fawkes, a male person, as a tongue in cheek reference in America, or to mean poorly dressed people in England, from the ‘guys’ burned on bonfire night. |
