Gregory's ServerMisskey supports banner ads in feeds?!?
I mean I get to each their own, but it's not a good look for a federated project IMO #activitypub #ads

 @dansup that is really a bummer. Before we know it this stuff creeps up on us and we're in #AdTech #fediverse @lightone maybe we need to mention anti-features on our #ActivityPub watchlists just like #FDroid does for apps, and show these entries in separate sub-category. There's also projects with blockchain and NFT's coming our way, and while they are no candidate for https://fediverse.party inclusion mentioning their codebase might still be interesting to learn AP stuff (or avoid interop 😜 ) @dansup The bright side is that you can choose to leave and go to another instance. Unlike for example, Twitter, which I left because ads and have lost all the relations from there.   |
@dansup Yikes! Thats why I am an advocate of patreon like features added to the fediverse. It would make it easier and fun to directly donate to instances (and possibly to creators) instead of having to go through patreon.
It will help avoid a dependency on ads and algorithms etc.
