@scrwd yes, exactly. Think it like if you were using your Twitter account to log in to your Instagram account: you will then post to your Instagram account, not your Twitter one.

@scrwd If you end up only having to use one set of login details for the entirety of the fediverse then it's a potential reduction in confusion as new users try out different services. That's my understanding of the benefits of OAuth in this context anyway. @swamptin @Deuchnord @pixelfed this is definitely a good thing - I often use "sign in with…" services to save time and having to think of passwords. I think my initial disappointment was that this wasn't a truly universal fediverse account for both Mastodon and Pixelfed. My dreamy ideal is one protocol and one account and depending on the types of content I post different apps surface different things from my single "stream". Not even sure if the ActivityPub protocol supports this. @scrwd Yeah, that would be a great solution if it is supported. But hey, I'll take a single app to access each of these accounts at least which it seems like fedilab does fairly well. |
