 The Bee Movie! You would think it was a paradise of movies about social hymenopterans, but really it was the hell that forged me into the woman I am today. (they only did it because they thought insects were "early CGI friendly" also a bad notion.) Not one of these movies was brave enough to make all the bees or ants female! It's criminal. Gotta have a male protagonist. Really? Well then he should do nothing but look for a mate AND DIE. 11 comments
 If Nemo's mom was dead his dad should have been female and his new mom by the end of the movie! The female is always the oldest and biggest clownfish, the male is the next largest and the rest are just... waiting their turn. I guess, Nemo probably should have worked on finding his own anemone to live in too... otherwise things could get weird even for my tastes. @futurebird @andybaio @stragu it would have been about Marlin the newly ascended mom going to find Nemo, her wifeson @futurebird @nev @andybaio @stragu I did not have “learn about Sequential hermaphroditism” on my Bingo card for today. @bh913 @futurebird @nev @andybaio @stragu neither did I but here we go, thanks for that I really enjoyed it @futurebird @andybaio @stragu @nev you know….I would watch a movie that keeps accurate to irl big biology. @futurebird @andybaio @stragu @nev as a beekeeper watching the bee.movie with my kids, I kept pointing out all the inaccuracies, much to my kids' annoyance. Number one: *all* the workers in a honey bee colony are female. |
