Christ. Had a boat try and stern-tie next to us, but the wind kept pushing them on the beam, then as they tightened the stern-line it caught into their dinghy, then the dinghy fell in the water, then a line of the dinghy got caught in the prop. We yelled at them to stop going forward. Guy pulled boat with dinghy. Wife didnt know how to lower/lift anchor or what the markers on the chain meant, can't pull stern-line in by hand (lacking strength).

Holy HELLL XD...

They had help, but g'damn...!

They were dragging towards us, then towards shore....

Not knowing how to handle your boat is so, so dangerous, especially with a boat that large. Not being able to deal with it physically is also a big problem :/.

The boat left this morning. As they pulled in their stern-tie rope a knot somehow formed at the end and they couldn't get it out. In this bay, there are chains bolted into rock, and ppl pass their stern-tie rope through a chain loop.

By then, tide was too low, and getting to the knot to free it from the chain loop wasn't an option. They tugged at it for 5 minutes, then... put a knife to the rope.

Not sure these people enjoyed their stern-tie experience XD...

To simply own a boat, no matter if expensive or inexpensive, doesn't make someone a boat person, just like a beefed computer doesn't make the owner a hacker.
