@m455 i was thinking about what it would take in resources to do something like this and whether, if i had the resources, i'd be morally obligated to spend it on like solving world hunger or something instead.

@m455 i don't even know what table stakes for bootstrapping a new web browser from scratch these days would be. a billion dollars in the bank and a couple hundred million in a year coming in? and then it's like ginning up an entire consumer-level operating system from scratch and it has to run everything out of the box or you're fucked, plus the only real way to get it in front of people is to be one of 3 OS vendors. @brennen i guess this is one reason i've bene meaning to get into gemini, i'ts easy to create a diverse ecosystem of browsers, even if, apparently (according to that one post by the curl developer that went around) things aren't defined specific enough. hell, rss isn't specific enough and i still use it instead of atom lol |
@brennen lmao yeah no kidding right? i think the exact same thing when i hear how many millions (maybe billions?) of dollars are spent by google to make google chrome the default browser on phones instead of, you know, fucking contributing to helping stop world hunger
