I just read another news article about why mastodon didn’t make it and is dying. It’s very sad to hear and probably explains why I have to keep adding more server capacity to handle all the people quitting mastodon.

A failure i tell you. This has been decided by the internet sages ( journalists with big ego) 😆 @jerry July 4 is the end of Infosec Exchange. The owner is going to shut it down for something called "Planned Maintenance". This is obviously a ploy to hide the self DDOS'ing and to make us touch grass while limiting our usage! @jerry Is there ever a rationale for why people think it's dying? Or is it as simple as "Twitter still exists, therefore Mastodon lost"? @jerry Yeh....place is fucking deserted.....it's like they rate limited the whole dumpster fire. Journalism really has gone to shit in the last 15 years. @jerry sir, I fear you may have applied sarcasm to your post. We don’t allow that here. Please edit your post to remove any traces of smug humor. @jerry Of course. Empty servers cost the most! I'm paying 95% of my paycheck every month to pay for the server space I'm not using. Maybe if I started a Mastodon server, I could pay less! LOL @jerry It surprises me how some people still post tweets even if these tweets will not reach outside the platform at the moment. I like mastodon. It is my only social media where I can interact without feeling overwhelmed and even though I get annoyed with posts of American-centric politics it does not worsen my experience. I guess dismissing the ones left behind is easy but I can imagine that it is hard to let go of what you have built or of what is familiar. @jerry it’s because you don’t have rate limiting on the batch RPC requests coming from the front-end, the tertiary inertial manifolds can’t handle the resulting 4° phase shift polarity modulation from the inverted supermatrix caused by rapidly fluctuating quantum magnetic fields. Scotty can have it fixed in 5 minutes if you push him, even if he says he needs 30. /s: I've heard that there is a new #NDA b/w #Mastodon gGmbH and #LindenLab. In order to bury your inactive account on #Mastodon, you now need to rent a grave on #2ndLife / #SL. @jerry as a tumblr resident, welcome to the dead social media club where you can post all you like and news sources won't link you in their articles without your consent but they'll absolutely talk about you like you're not in the room @jerry it's definitely not 'dying' but it's not close at all to being close in number of users & usage to be considered an 'actual' social network which wouldn't be that important if this wasn't a social network. Less people on it means less people are interested to join etc. @gamingonlinux @jerry @mdiluz Hahaha yeah, you’ve exploded in terms of numbers. Probably just bots, then! |
@jerry Mastodon, I wish that I could quit you
