 @shlee I'm getting better at balancing my attention, and focusing on priorities to a degree. That being said, my goal for many of these projects is to build the foundation and encourage contributors to help. The socialhub forum is a good example of this, I started it and when I couldn't give it the attention it deserved, I passed it off and it's thriving today.  @PhilipKing @shlee I've been working on the app this whole time, the latest release is just a few days ago. It may not seem like I'm focusing on it because many of the upcoming improvements have taken months of work and will be shipping around the same time, in the next week or two. Push Notifications, Stories, Faster Feeds, Device Settings, Loops, Video Camera, Channels and Hashtag Follows/Shares in Home Feed are the biggest features that are due for release soon. @dansup @shlee I don’t mean this in a rude way but you’ve said a ‘couple of weeks’ and ‘ by the end of the month’ (May) before. From a user’s point of view (who really wants Pixelfed to succeed) it’s a little frustrating. How can I get my friends to use it when it’s not in the App Store ? They aren’t going to use a web site, they want to use their phones. @PhilipKing @shlee I understand that, but consider this: Instagram is much different than Twitter, IG has billions more users who've grown accustomed to a highly curated experience via their app. I'm up against the platform that birthed influencers, what most consider live streaming and stories. I'd rather ship a polished app that makes a great first impression than rush a half baked product. No other fedi project has these challenges, nevermind ship their own app (they wrote). Just wait 😉  @dansup @PhilipKing I believe Pixelfed can take down Insta, I don't believe Mastodon can take down twitter... *get their asses* @shlee @PhilipKing Right? There are literally no platforms as similar to IG other than Pixelfed https://alternativeto.net/software/instagram/ Even if a new fedi photo sharing alternative arrives, either they copy Pixelfed/IG or live in our shadow, it's much easier for text based platforms - probably why there are so many twitter alternatives. @dansup @shlee Isn’t Tumblr implementing Activity Pub? https://techcrunch.com/2022/11/21/tumblr-to-add-support-for-activitypub-the-social-protocol-powering-mastodon-and-other-apps/ Rumours of Flickr as well. @PhilipKing @shlee Yeah but none of those are like IG, just because you can upload an image, doesn't mean it's similar. IG is where your friends are at, and where you can follow your fav celebs and orgs. Group chats, Stories, Curated Photo Feed. That's what sets it apart. Your IRL friends aren't on flickr or tumblr, or if they are, then your in the minority (and probably old) I'm old too, but I still share Stories, it's like twitter but for non-nerds @PhilipKing @shlee Age is just a number, but if you don't post stories or have snapchat, you a web 2.0 elder. Nothing wrong with that, I'm building this for my generation that use social media differently than Gen X (or older) @PhilipKing @shlee I said age is just a number, I know teens that don't use social media. Wasn't meant to be patronizing, it's just that most people don't use Stories, etc. I was trying to highlight the difference in twitter vs IG users, that's why I mentioned non-nerds. @PhilipKing @shlee I specifically said "I'm building this for my generation that use social media differently than Gen X (or older)" note the "that use social media differently" ie: stories, group chats, etc. Not going to argue with you, if you think I'm being ageist, that's on you. I've never said Pixelfed is only for young people. @dansup @shlee But Gen X or older don’t use it differently. That’s were you are being discriminatory or ageist. Edit: I’m actually really surprised that you’d have such views of people. People like different things and ageist to say that it’s related to age because you are putting people into broad categories. @PhilipKing @shlee Generally speaking, they do. Are you not aware of how Facebook is considered "for old people" by Gen Z? Anyways, you made your point about the app, I'm not going to argue with you over nothing , have a nice day! @PhilipKing @shlee Honestly I'm not sure if your being serious or sarcastic, I'm not peddling anything. You've followed me for long enough to know that respect is a fundamental value of both Pixelfed and myself. I would never be disrespectful or ageist, and if you think different, I ask you to re-read what I said and with the context I provided in my previous comments. ❤️  @PhilipKing @shlee I'm spending a lot of time working on the app. Do you know the pains of react-native and supporting a cross platform UI and UX for Android + iOS? Stories and a few other features have been delayed because of Android issues, I can't afford to focus on just iOS so these workarounds take time. Considering it's a beta, it's pretty solid overall but there are a lot of small details and edge cases that take time. Trust me, I want to get this released ASAP, but not prematurely @philsherry I'm working on that right now!
