Decided I'm going to go ahead with my Kbin mobile app.

Yeah I know i have a lot on the go, but I use Apollo daily, and want a solid Apollo like experience for Kbin.

I'm willing to hand over the project to Kbin if they want, and would love to work closely with the developer on this if possible.

Will be starting this next week, after my camping trip! It will be open source from the start, and contributors will be gladly welcomed! #kbin

@dansup I got the impression that there was a similar project already under development, possibly by the Apollo developer(s), already? Although I'm not sure it's open source.

@oblomov The more apps, the better IMO.

I'm not sure of the other app, but I've been in touch with the Kbin developer and pitched my idea of this, working closely with him and eventually handing it over once he's ready.

He was pretty receptive to this idea, and it looks like this could possibly become the official Kbin app!

@dansup @oblomov definitely agree with this! I would absolutely love an apollo-like app 😊😊😊

@dansup that's excellent. FWIW, my comment wasn't intended as a way to demotivate you on the task (I do wonder where the heck you find the time and energy to make all these things though, kudos really).
Never used Reddit via app myself, but the Apollo devs must have really done something right to be so inspiring (the migration first, your app design now)

@nekothegamer I'm working on it right now! Lots of exciting stuff will be shipping in the coming days πŸ˜‰

@dansup Thats awesome to hear the main reason I don’t use kbin that much is there isn’t an app available

@dansup Hey @ernest I thought you'd like to know about this!

@dansup How will this app be implemented? Native iOS/Android? Flutter? React Native?

JC Palmer

@dansup If you need documentation help, I’m happy to work closely with you to make sure it’s got a solid written foundation from the start.

@dansup not the hero we deserve but the hero we need

Rich

@dansup Fantastic! Looking forward to there being great apps to choose from for kbin. I'm really loving the platform, but it really needs a good app to drive it home.

SudoNaaame

@dansup I just hope it is easy to use. I'm willing to learn, but need guidance for these new platforms.

@dansup You should chat with @christianselig and @ernest

Maybe the 3 of you can join forces and get an Apollo-like experience for both #kbin and #pixelfed at the same time :)

Garrett W.

@dansup you might consider joining forces with @hariette - I figure you or she could use the help! Unless there’s no overlap of tech knowledge, or goals don’t align, of course.

Garrett W.

@dansup we gotta get an API nailed down first. If you are able to contribute to that, it would be awesome :)

Bonnie (she/her)

@dansup Any chance it'll be available for Android as well as iOS?

Lutin Discret

@dansup will this project have a matrix room (like kbin and lemmy do?)

Tim Chambers

@dansup Before diving into this project you might look at #Artemis iOS app for Kbin…. Very promising and about to go private beta: docs.google.com/document/d/16b

@dansup Dan I was adding this post to a list of #threadiverse apps that are already announced and I was like what should I call it for the time being and then it popped into my head: Sup!
Sup! would be a perfect name for a threadiverse app started by Dansup...

Matthew Snyder

@dansup Apollo spoiled most of us. I honestly can’t wait to see what devs can come up to fill the void it left.

jramskov

@dansup I'm confused about Kbin vs Lemmy 🀷

Rando

@dansup man it would be great if you made one, the pixelfed app is top notch

Deknoz

@dansup if you need any beta testers I already have TestFlight and used to beta test Apollo!
