Gregory's ServerTotal users != Active users
Kbin has more active users than Lemmy!
Anyone can inflate user counts, but active users are a better signal to determine growth 😉 #fediDB #threadiverse

@dansup did kbin really grow by over 30,000 users in one day, on the 13th? Quite a bump. @y6nH We believe so yes, we go by the stats that each instance reports, and with the amount of growth Kbin has had in the past week or so, I don't doubt it. I'm working on being able to detect suspicious growth/stats and adding a label when appropriate. Luckily, nearly all instances use nodeinfo properly, and do not inflate stats. This could change though, so it will take some clever deduction to keep our stats as accurate as possible.  |
