@hook @rysiek the biggest difference I would give between the two is kbin federates nicely with microblog content. kbin posts will show up properly on something like mastodon instead of just being a headline and link like lemmy stuff. also you can view, follow and create microblog content on kbin

if you want to try it out, I'm hosting an instance with open registration at fedi196.gay

@ivy, cool, thanks for explaining. That helps to understand.

Also very kind to offer your instance, but as Reddit was not really my jam, I'm first going to lurk around a bit now and again to see how the format and community develops.

@ivy @hook @rysiek i haven’t been able to see any Lemmy or Kbin posts through mastodon. Not even copying the link directly. I’m possibly doing something wrong :p

if you're able to see this than you've just seen your first kbin post :3

if you want to see posts from a kbin account on your feed, you will need to follow them, otherwise you can check out their home instance to see posts. for example you could go to https://fedi196.gay/u/ivy to see my full account whereas viewing @ivy will only show what your server has logged for my user (which it will only do for posts put out while someone on your server is following my account, or i put out posts that mention someoneone your server)
