@brembs "human support" is not the problem but the combination with "menial" which means "Of or relating to work normally performed by a servant.". It reads like you want a future where those tasks that are undignified for a reasearcher to be automated *and* – where automation is not possible – handed over to servants, e.g. librarians. That's just it.

Yes, I think that's exactly how I understood your point. Why do you assume that these sorts of mistreatments are fine with us? Or, phrased differently, in case you do not assume that slave labor is fine with us, why do you assume that it is not fine with us, but that we are fine with other mistreatments?

@brembs In fact, I do not assume that this is fine with you, I rather assumed you just chose an unfortunate wording which hurts people you would like to work together with. I posted this to make you aware to best change it or at least not use this wording in the future.

I was made aware of this by a librarian colleague who got really angry about it and I could understand them not least because it wasn't a new experience that scholars referred to librarians not in a collegial way.
