 I feel like its a blessing and a curse to be developing a fediverse project alone. I'm very fortunate to have the audience I have, not many projects have this, but it can get tough. I feel so alone sometimes, my partner doesn't get why I feel so proud sometimes, because I solved a problem or made a small improvement. None of my family and few friends have made an effort to join Pixelfed, it makes me appreciate the fediverse even more. Thank you ❤️ 16 comments
 @dansup I think you are not alone with this perception. People do understand, when your team scores more goals than the other. But most people don't get it, when you achieve something "on the internet".   @dansup Nicola Tesla didn't have much support either, but he revolutionized electricity. Take a break; you deserve it, champ. 🤜 @dansup I feel the same way when I achieve something in @ManjaroARM . Sure we are a small team that gets things done, but that doesnt make me any less proud!   I get the “alone” feeling. Even as a non-developer, I do my best to advocate for ethical social networking platforms: We are just a few, but I feel we are getting closer than ever to a boom of the #Fediverse; I hope and I believe that in a not-so-far future everybody will realize how great #ActivityPub is.    @dansup thank you for all your wonderful work on Pixelfed. I really appreciate having access to it and watching it grow. So many wonderful people use it to share their daily lives and their experiences on it, it feels like a window into other parts of the world. I feel enriched by it, and I love contributing photos of my own corner of the world to it. So thank you again - it’s a really special place that you’re building. Thank you for supporting the world and not just corporate interests. Pixelfed is a treasure and has empowered people from all over the world and given them a welcoming platform to share their creativity without fear that they're some monetization scheme somewhere. |
