@BjornIdle @acm_redfox additive colours of light, RGB, as seen on our screens, pop more if they're shown against their complementary colours. The complementary (or opposite on the colour wheel) of red is cyan. I noticed that the lichen has a cyan undertone. I wonder whether that is bringing out the red in contrast? |

Pretty sure it's not painted - there used to be a brickworks close to here that produced lots of bricks of this colour (including the ones on our house).
I have wondered if macro photography exaggerates some colours in certain light, though - particularly if there's only a limited palette in the image anyway. But I'm not an expert!
