@fantinel We will look into our options for alternate icons on the Mac after launch. But worst case we will probably provide icon files you can download and change yourself.

@ivory that'd be sweet! I've never seen a Mac app with icon options so I'm not sure if it's possible, but I use Pictogram to change them (and automatically persist on updates)

@fantinel A lot of apps outside of the app store do it easily. It's a bit trickier for app store apps.

@ivory Gotta tell ya I hate that we can no longer swipe a media to close it. I enjoyed the animated way that pics swooshed out of the way. Why did you change this? Now you're really no better than the other apps.

@ivory have been using Ivory. It’s great. Would love to see better support for posting video - recognize when video can’t fit and offer options to shrink or trim to post size. Right now video posting to Mastodon is a very frustrating hit or miss proposition involving extra apps and lots of guesses if one fails.

@ednl Free is just a demo mode with very limited features. Basically Read-only. Pro and Premier offer the same features and is just a matter of how much you want to support the development of the app. You can test the full functionality of the app by subscribing and then immediately unsubscribing. That way you get 7 days to try the app and won't get charged after the time limit is reached.

@ivory is there a way to restore the black background for media? Matching the image is often annoying to me more than helpful, makes it harder to see where the image stops. For example this one you shared becomes a low-contrast mess. And the changing color as I swipe through is distracting.

@ivory I see that Ivory is still listed as Free. I understand that it's free to download, but the full featured and more than a week of use are paid. That's not made clear in the shortened description, and it makes the Free indicator feel very misleading. Is there another way of handling this?

@bigattck We are doing just fine. Apple doesn't make us charge a subscription just as we don't make you use our app. If there are 10 other free mastodon apps out there, you shouldn't be telling us that we need to make our app free. Just spend your energy using one of the other 10 apps and enjoy your time here. 🙂

@stephankleiber Unfortunately our current compose window isn't designed for all these extra features as Twitter didn't need them. So we plan on redesigning the whole compose view which will have a lot of new mastodon-specific features. It's on our list, but it's going to be a huge project to take on. We just haven't put it on the public roadmap yet as we want to focus on the ones already on there.

@ivory Oh I can’t do my favorite pastime anymore: grabbing a photo while in media viewer and trying to spin it while I swipe it away. The old one was so responsive (although slower because of the animation). Also the new one blinds me when I open a tiny cropped light image while in dark mode and the whole screen turns white. Can’t say I like that aspect.

@btaroli Up to you! But yes generally Testflight versions will get new features first. If something is really annoying or buggy on the testflight version, you can always go back to the official version.

@ivory not a fan of the new video player. The controls appear automatically for a few seconds when I start a video (obstructing the video *every time*). The iOS video player is much better, especially the possibility to scrub forward/backward by sliding left or right anywhere on the screen.

@paulk_ No, we don't have timelines for anything as we work on features until they are good. Sometimes it goes quickly, and sometimes it just takes time. But we are working through our publicly posted roadmap on our website.

@ivory ‘Read position saved in local and federated timelines’ Would like a way to disable this for these timelines specifically. It’s not a huge inconvenience but I do prefer the old behavior. @ivory I like the new media viewer and the more obvious access to alt text. But I was confused about the different behavior between posts with a single image (controls hidden by default) and multiple images (controls visible by default). In fact I didn’t realize at first that the overlay can be toggled by single tap
