@ivory I started testing it yesterday and the preview of media when creating alt text is so appreciated. That was a daily pain point for me. @ivory can we select the language in which we're posting? I always go back to IceCubes to post (except here but I don't know what it's picking) @robUx4 Eventually. Not a feature that we can easily add in. We will get to it when we redesign the compose view. @ivory It seems that those of us who were removed from the previous beta can't join the new beta ☹️ @ResciscoSilenda TestFlight is a test environment. You have to subscribe there too which doesn't really charge you. It's all for testing purposes. Money is never transferred in this environment. @ivory For anyone getting “Build removed” in TestFlight, it’s because you were previously testing it. Just hit “Stop testing” in the old one in TestFlight and it’ll disappear. Then follow the link again in this new post. @cynamiter Not possible. Just going to have to learn to swipe down for everything. 🙃 @ivory @cynamiter :( sucks when things go away, but the alt text viewer w/media is definitely warranted. Any way to have option to default alt text ON/visible when pulling up media? @colinstu @ivory @cynamiter It's not an option. That's how it works. It remembers how you last left it. @ivory can I restore my subscription to the Testflight version? Because I get a No Valid Subscription found message if I try to restore a purchase @bvanoorde No. testflight subscriptions aren't real. Just for testing purposes. No real money is transferred. @ellie You have to subscribe again in Testflight. It's a test environment so your real sub can't be read. No money is transferred in Testflight. @ivory Something about the animations has also changed and I'm so here for it! The media viewer looks and feels nice. The blur effect works perfectly in that scenario. @ivory I can’t restore my sub and can’t post therefore. I’m waiting a few days and will try again then. @ivory Very nice! The zoom-down animation is much quicker than the old one. Very tastefully done! I appreciate the lateral paging indicator as well. @ivory I have deleted the beta again. Despite Premier subscription almost nothing works with it. @3timeslazy Not true. Just install the app store version again and your subscription works there. @3timeslazy read our second post. App store and TestFlight are completely different environments. @SforStuart Most people hated the old way. We received thousands of complaints about it. 😅 Some clarification about how TestFlight works since a lot of you are confused about your subscription: TestFlight is purely a test environment. No real money is ever transferred and your App store subscription is not read here. You have to subscribe again in TestFlight and it is NOT a real transaction. No money get transferred. You can always download the App Store version again and your paid subscription will function fine there. @ivory I just installed the beta and settings showed a weird renewal date of July 20, 2023. Didn’t have to re-subscribe in the beta and this isn’t my actual renewal date. @sayrer We will ship it soon. Just wanted to make sure there weren't any show-stopping bugs in the new media stuff. Will probably submit sometime early next week. 🙂 @jasoncox Mainly the new media viewer. Tons of code has changed in there and while it’s been working great for us so far, users always find bugs we don't come across. @ivory Ahem, ignore the beta feedback I just submitted then about not being able to restore a subscription for I am a tool. @ivory What subscription? I see nowhere to do that. What email? There is nowhere to add mine. How do I get an invite code via email then? I’ve checked an not gotten one on any of my addresses. @ivory can you revert to the previous media viewer? the new one is broken and very annoying to use. i don’t care about alt text or whatever is added. or at least a toggle to use the previous one… @radu How is it broken? Swipe down to dismiss which is how video media has always worked and how you dismiss images in most iOS apps (including Apple's own Photos app). We received non-stop complaints about how it used to work before. 😅 @ivory i was able to swipe from anywhere + play with it while swiping. it’s been like that for ages on Tweetbot and then here. a setting toggle “fixes” these things as you can’t please everyone but you can let users decide. @radu You will get used to it. Progress in the app can never be made if we aren't allow to improve things which might temporarily break habits. Creating more settings for every change is not the solution. @ivory kind of a bit smug of a response. i want progress in the app. while keeping two different implementations available in the app under a toggle is annoying and difficult, i would at least like basic setting toggles for, let’s say, the write button to be in the nav bar not in the screen corners covering content. @ivory how about you remove that problem of subscription service and actually do the thing that open source alternative offers. Tips are not a bad thing and you are wrong when you claim they disappear, they did not. Your app gets bomb every time for your dumb subscription service, not even offering the ability to post. Enough is enough, people have spoken. @ivory The only way I can truly test out an app is if I can use it on my Mac and my iPhone (timeline sync FTW). I was on the iOS *and* Mac beta so when the iOS app launched on the App Store I downloaded it and subscribed to the $24.99 plan. Then for some reason, I got kicked out of the Mac TestFlight beta. So I’m no longer using Ivory. @ivory exciting! but immediately noticed that the app is still ignoring Spatialize Stereo settings (or at least doesn’t give me an option to turn it off). Would really appreciate that! @ivory (Also, for anyone with an existing subscription confused by the reappearance of the subscription screen - looks like testing stuff is entirely free? There’s some explanatory text shortly afterwards.) @ivory Just submitted some feedback through TestFlight. Sadly had to return to the App Store version because of the problems I submitted. @ivory Does the improved read position understand how far I've read via the web versus in the ivory app? I switch back and forth between the web and the mobile app and them being out of sync is bothersome. @johnm No not yet. That's a whole big project in itself that we will get to at some point. @ivory thanks! I had to leave test and then link again. But loving it! Will try and exercise the new stuff and start submitting feedback again. @ivory LOL completely full. Reminds me of the days we’d all refresh every 5 minutes for the OG alpha TestFlight. @ivory saw this post and didn’t realize I had been removed from the original test flight. Now it’s full 😭 oh, well. @RickWilliams Almost everyone was removed from the original iOS TestFlight. We didn’t (and still don’t) need 10k beta testers. 🙂 @ivory oh I totally get it. Would have done the same. That’s 10k users that could have gotten around paying a sub as well. @ivory Really nice update! I’d really like a toggle to select dark/black background or the new tinted one for the media viewer though 👍 @ivory OK… App loaded. How exactly do I redeem an invite code when I see nowhere to enter my email address?… I’m ready to go. @DrSprockets Beta got filled quickly if you don't see the button to join it. @ivory I hope that "photos may go into the Photos library as something broken (depending on whether you save from fullscreen view or toot view)" has been sorted out. “New behavior option to remind you if you forgot to add Alt text before posting (enable it in the behavior settings).” Why not turn it on by default and notify the user when they leave the alt text empty? And ask on the first occurrence whether they’d like to be kept notified (primary action) or they don’t care (secondary action). This would make the functionality much more discoverable and everyone would need to make a conscious decision. The #a11y community certainly deserves this. @ivory the other app I Beta test thru Test Flight is clearly labelled a Beta version of mainstream app — can have both running concurrently. “Read position is now saved in federated & local timelines.” Does it mean that the timeline can sync between Ivory and Mastodon web app? @pawelgrzybek No. Federated and Local timelines are other mastodon timelines similar to Home. @ivory I missed the boat - again :-> very popular beta that got full vvveerrryyy fast!! @ivory Completely blaming my wife for breaking her leg and being in hospital most of this week for me missing out on an iOS beta 😢 |
@ivory it says I’ve been removed from the test project
