Some clarification about how TestFlight works since a lot of you are confused about your subscription:

TestFlight is purely a test environment. No real money is ever transferred and your App store subscription is not read here. You have to subscribe again in TestFlight and it is NOT a real transaction. No money get transferred.

You can always download the App Store version again and your paid subscription will function fine there.

@ivory do you guys have a preferred method to receive feedback?

Ramón 🇨🇴

@ivory thank you so much for clarifying. I was going crazy uninstalling and reinstalling 😊

Billy Adams

@ivory I just installed the beta and settings showed a weird renewal date of July 20, 2023. Didn’t have to re-subscribe in the beta and this isn’t my actual renewal date.

Nadeem

@ivory thanks for that. All sorted and pleased to have the opportunity to test the beta version.

@ivory zweiter Anlauf … hat funktioniert 👍🏻😅

@ivory fwiw, I think you should ship it. I use it on iOS and macOS every day, and it's better than most apps at this point.

Ivory by Tapbots :emoji_wink:

@sayrer We will ship it soon. Just wanted to make sure there weren't any show-stopping bugs in the new media stuff. Will probably submit sometime early next week. 🙂

@ivory You’ll get my money one way or another! 💵

@ivory Are there any features that you guys want tested or is this more or a “use it like normal and we’ll check the crash logs” kinda test? Asking as a fellow iOS dev. :-)

Ivory by Tapbots :emoji_wink:

@jasoncox Mainly the new media viewer. Tons of code has changed in there and while it’s been working great for us so far, users always find bugs we don't come across.

Rob Robinson

@ivory Ahem, ignore the beta feedback I just submitted then about not being able to restore a subscription for I am a tool.

Peter Lichota

@ivory What subscription? I see nowhere to do that. What email? There is nowhere to add mine. How do I get an invite code via email then? I’ve checked an not gotten one on any of my addresses.

Radu Ursache

@ivory can you revert to the previous media viewer? the new one is broken and very annoying to use. i don’t care about alt text or whatever is added. or at least a toggle to use the previous one…

Ivory by Tapbots :emoji_wink:

@radu How is it broken? Swipe down to dismiss which is how video media has always worked and how you dismiss images in most iOS apps (including Apple's own Photos app). We received non-stop complaints about how it used to work before. 😅

Radu Ursache

@ivory i was able to swipe from anywhere + play with it while swiping. it’s been like that for ages on Tweetbot and then here. a setting toggle “fixes” these things as you can’t please everyone but you can let users decide.

Ivory by Tapbots :emoji_wink:

@radu You will get used to it. Progress in the app can never be made if we aren't allow to improve things which might temporarily break habits. Creating more settings for every change is not the solution.

Radu Ursache

@ivory kind of a bit smug of a response. i want progress in the app. while keeping two different implementations available in the app under a toggle is annoying and difficult, i would at least like basic setting toggles for, let’s say, the write button to be in the nav bar not in the screen corners covering content.

@ivory how about you remove that problem of subscription service and actually do the thing that open source alternative offers. Tips are not a bad thing and you are wrong when you claim they disappear, they did not. Your app gets bomb every time for your dumb subscription service, not even offering the ability to post. Enough is enough, people have spoken.

@ivory The only way I can truly test out an app is if I can use it on my Mac and my iPhone (timeline sync FTW). I was on the iOS *and* Mac beta so when the iOS app launched on the App Store I downloaded it and subscribed to the $24.99 plan. Then for some reason, I got kicked out of the Mac TestFlight beta. So I’m no longer using Ivory.
