Zehra, a student with a #linux phone running @postmarketOS fought against the decision of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University to enforce 2FA allowing only SMS and Microsoft Authenticator. @Idcrafter @dimitrisk @postmarketOS Other Universities (Carnegie Mellon being one) have similar issues with DUO Mobile. The only official way to use their 2FA is through their app (Android or iOS), or by using a Yubikey (they don't officially support other hardware keys). Thankfully, someone found a way to bypass using the app: https://github.com/revalo/duo-bypass @kop316 @dimitrisk @postmarketOS i can't yet fully daily drive my pinephone pro because of 3 apps and the fact that i am spoiled with a 120hz oled display on my pixel 6 pro which is running calyxos. But i hope i can find a way to make them work on waydroid or similar @Idcrafter True, #Microsoft has been offering its products gratis to public schools and universities for decades. As a result, several generations have been educated against open standards, interoperability, and software freedom. @dimitrisk @postmarketOS Zo hee! Huh, I wonder why the IT department didn't allow TOTP, as it is normally available directly where you enroll your Authenticator. No special infrastructure need... π€·  @dimitrisk @postmarketOS This was the right thing to do, but just as an aside, in case people don't know, but you CAN run Microsoft authenticator on your Pinephone or Librem 5. Waydroid is the answer. I don't recommend it, but it is a powerful solution for a lot of cases. |
