If people are unwilling to talk to you away from Twitter, are they really your friends?

@atomicpoet I've been trying to lose Facebook, and yeah. Family and a few friends will not try to contact me any other way. It's a little sad. I've still got a toehold there.

@rbos They won’t even call you? Or meet you up for dinner and a movie?

@atomicpoet What usually happens (historically, from before I had a FB account) is that I don't hear about organized events until the day of. It's not a matter of intentional omission, just not being in the usual channel of communication.

If I reach out, yeah, I can make things happen, it just takes a lot more effort.

@rbos Well, then that’s different.

By the way, what I’ve found helps with moving off Facebook is email and calendar. If you organize events through a calendar then notify them through email, people will follow along.

@atomicpoet
The fear of finding out noone ever thinks about you.

@atomicpoet If they are real friends and you have real ties, they can easily look for you in many other ways without limiting themselves to just one and without forcing you.

@atomicpoet I originally joined Twitter along w many other artists that were also friends. We had a lot of hopes of where It would take us. Most of us took our artists biz to FB & Insta. Much more profitable there, especially due to lots of friends & family. I only went back for journalists & podcasters.

@atomicpoet can’t imagine people who use twitter DMs as their primary form of text communication
