⚠️ We're preparing a new build of our #pixelfedApp, and is compatible with Pixelfed server version v0.11.5 (released 2 weeks ago) and newer.

Server admins should update to the latest release ASAP!

(If you are logged in to a v0.11.4 server, don't fret, everything will still work as expected, however you will only be able to login to servers v0.11.5 or newer)

v0.11.5 requires php8. Debian stable is using php7.4. So we can't update pixelfed.

Could you please make the App compatible with both versions?

Or, better, make Pixelfed compatible with both php7.4 and 8?

@John_Livingston Unfortunately we require php 8.1 at minimum because that is what the laravel framework requires.

php7.4 hasn't had active support since 2021.

Yes I know.
But Debian has a long term policy, that is very appreciated by many sys admin. It is well known for its stability, and php 7.4 still receives security patch.

It would be very nice to not be too agressive with your update policy. Not only because of Debian, but also because we often have other application on the same server, and don't want to setup multiple php versions.
