 Every time I mention @mastodonusercount, someone says that it over counts. So here's the counts from other services: * the-federation.info: 8,223,165 Mastodon accounts It's my belief that @mastodonusercount counts every account that's been made including on servers that are no longer operable while the-federation.info counts accounts on active servers. 6 comments
@Aranjedeath Switter alone counts for 435,490 Mastodon accounts that no longer exist.  @Aranjedeath It was mostly sex workers. The authorities pretty much forced that server to shut down. @atomicpoet yes, that was understood. they were collateral of the last round of internet speech regulation. So many people cannot even access banking services due to these laws...  @atomicpoet @mastodonusercount @mastodon_daily_active_users I've seen the total users drop a couple times though. It's possible those were just bugs in the bot since it seems to have issues every now and again but it was around the same time a couple of servers were shutting down |
