@eniko it's wild. Anytime I look at it now it's mostly just people talking about how the site is getting worse or how bad Elon is but will not post literally anywhere else

@eniko Twitter is definitely down the drain these days but so is my energy to start all over again. I thought breaking the 900 mark was impossible, I'm starting to think breaking 100 here is. I know it's my fault but burying cats left and right leaves you with zero energy to 'socialize'. :(

@eniko Mastodon is still very demographically homogenous, walking away from established communities isn't easy for some folks because their landing options are limited.

@eniko I could understand that mindset in the beginning when there was still some hope he would quickly lose interest and just become an absentee landlord. But now it's far too late for that and staying without being some steps into your exit strategy haven't made sense for quite a while.

@eniko sadly, leaving it 100% is only viable for first world'ers, the rest of us can't find local communities elsewhere.

The fediverse in particular just erases poor cultures in the current state, is too expensive to maintain and makes us depend on first world communities (which tend to not like foreigners).

I've been subtly hinting at shared communities on Twitter to at least try Mastodon but I'm not having much luck unfortunately.

The lack of adoption because "not enough use it" is a self-fulfilling prophecy, while the reduced discoverability because limited search functions remain a valid concern.

@eniko I'm splitting time between Mastodon and Spoutible, but also still using Facebook because there are just too many friends there currently. Post News is interesting but it's become more like reading a news feed than something interactive like Mastodon, Spoutible, or Twitter.

@eniko genuinely watching multiple people that im friends with trying to grasp at straws to stay on twitter and this has been infinitely better for my mental health than twitter ever was

@eniko I remember before I quit in October lots of people saying "I'm staying in protest!" and just shaking my head. He doesn't care about why. It's all just numbers to him.

@eniko would be cool if someone built a tool to search for accounts that stopped posting in the last 6 months and then showed you the final tweets from those accounts.

@eniko the internet does a great job of highlighting the futility of symbolic protest when the people your message is directed at aren't even aware of your existence, definitely aren't listening, and will probably find a way to break your plugin.

Yes I miss a few things (pretty much just info posting), but I rather err on the side of not dealing with twatter.
