@shoq @mike I think Streams and Mastodon touch upon different needs. Mastodon is a microblogging platform whereas Streams is for macroblogging.

One is minimal while the other is maximal.

If I want a calendar or a fancy gallery, Streams is better for that use case.

In this sense, Streams is more like Facebook than Twitter.

So coexistence can definitely happen.

@Chris Trottier @Shoq @Fediverse News Vanilla #Streams, if installed straight from the code repository and used as-is, is more like Facebook than Twitter.

But that wasn't @mike's intention when he created (streams). Unlike Friendica, Hubzilla and all the following projects, and unlike Mastodon & Co., he did not intend (streams) to be a use-as-is #Fediverse platform. And (streams) isn't one.

Unlike Mastodon, Friendica, Hubzilla etc., (streams) is not a final product. It is a code repository.

The intention behind (streams) is to take the code, fork it and build something nice with it. You can run it as-is. It is being run as-is, see Rumbly. But Mike didn't make it for this.

Friendica is more like Facebook. (streams) is more like LEGO.
