@Swede1952 I hope you saw Venus and Jupiter above the moon. Awesome picture. Was the picture taken through a window screen?

I have pictures but iCloud misbehaving and I can’t get it off the phone as I am running a long exposure picture. The exposure time I am anticipating to be about 6 hours if clouds do not interrupt my view of the stars. iPhone did an amazing job capturing all three before the moon set below the horizon.

Thank you. Yes I saw the planets but didn’t get a picture. For some reason, I couldn’t get a good focus. I may try again later, we have scattered cloud here and they keep getting in the way.

@Swede1952 I had troubles too with my regular camera. I used my iphone and they came out stunning. So much so, I think I captured the earth shine on the moon. When I finish star trailing tonight, I will post what I captured just before the golden hour ended.

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a telescope for better pictures of the moon. But my camera does okay. I haven’t had much luck with planets.

@Swede1952 I am totally happy with my Canon Powershot. I tried telescope routine and you really need one that rotates or follows celestial objects as the earth turns pretty dang fast. Below were handheld pictures (no tripod) using ISO 100, on average 1/500 shutter speed and F5.6.

Last 2 pictures are collages of lunar eclipse. These are much harder to capture and a tripod is a must. Tap/click pics if edges cut off.

Not to worry, when I mull something over it can be a very long time before I decide. Sometimes years 😅. I do okay with the moon. But I’ve seen some really detailed shots with telescope. I usually shoot off hand, but occasionally break out a tripod.

@Swede1952 oh gosh, that saying a bird of a feather flocks together is so true. I love change but I also hate it with a passion. Why fix things that are not broke, yet I get excited to see change only to find myself totally frustrated, why am I fixing what wasn’t broke. But that’s called learning so I beat myself up trying to learn. This old dog WILL learn new tricks. 😂
