@nathan
Can't you block those people who bother you?

As admin you can block another instance in its entirety.

I appreciate that the instant popularity of Madison has probably impacted admins but you shouldn't throw in the towel because a few individuals harassed you.

@chribonn not really when you're the admin and the complaints are coming, even if disingenuously, from within the walls.

@nus

users are users. I don't run a mastodon instance but support corporate users.

@chribonn sorry, I don't catch your meaning? My point is that he's an admin, and he has to evaluate user behavior, and blocking one way or another is not conducive towards that. It comes with the territory of being an administrator.

@nus
I am on mastodon through twit.social. I hear the administrator (Leo) say, on various shows, that he blocks entire instances and kicks out users. As an administrator he can block individual users and users can block as well.

My point is that I would not quit because of a few morons and imbeciles. Quiting for other reasons is justifiable and the right of anyone who is doing this voluntarily.

@chribonn well if the morons are on other instances, it's not a problem to block them. Unfortunately, this admin was getting pushback for, far as I can tell, deleting a few posts that were made in spite against others.

Not everybody has the mental capacity to handle harassment within their community. There are better ways to handle it, but hindsight's 20/20. There's a difference between being a bad person and a bad administrator, and I think we're seeing the latter not the former.
