@mkarliner @luthien1126 @atomicpoet yes, and related, be critical when consensus is that something is "too complicated, use a managed service". @gerbrand @luthien1126 @atomicpoet My question when a mananged service is proposed is: 'Is this a core compentence of this business?' If it is, then spend the money to get it working in-house. If not, get a managed service. I've seen companies outsource the very functions that are their USP. @mkarliner @gerbrand @atomicpoet Outsourcing is the easy way out when there are resources to spare, which isn't always the case for small businesses. For instance, in our startup, maintaining our website is necessary for online presence and generating awareness. But outsourcing that task is out of the question for practical reasons. So imagine the conundrum whenever Google tweaks something in their analytics. |
