@geordie I'm not going to endorse driving on mushrooms and coke but I think I'm okay with the rest

Chris VK2CJR

@geordie Driving on mushrooms and coke seems like a dangerously bad idea.

Jake Mannix

@ozcjr @geordie well at least the car isn't going to drive very fast - it's only powered by free-range chickens!

Sean

@geordie The all-new BMW Zinger (2023) with a 20L vegetable oil capacity 🛢️

Nona Rose

@geordie whoever designed this add might have been on mushrooms and coke.

Erstkate

@geordie driving on mushrooms & coke sounds more Tesla than VW tbh

@geordie this becomes even funnier if one is aware that the German slang expression for a white ethnic German is “Kartoffel”, which means potato. Chances are, the VW had indeed been designed by potatoes 😊

Geordie Pordy Puddin’ n’ Pie

@vonneudeck I was entirely unaware of this slang and that is hilarious. “entworfen von Kartoffeln” 😂

chef 😎

@vonneudeck @geordie
Apart from that the term Kartoffelkopf (potatoe head) gets used in series or films. 🥔😊

Funny when you consider that potatoes first came to Germany in 1630. King Friedrich II off Prussia loved them and helped to make it popular.

But it only became a part of Germans' daily diet in the 19th century.

#kartoffeln

@geordie

I'm at the Volkswagen
I'm at the KFC
I'm at the combination Volkswagen and KFC

oldmanmike

@geordie I dunno about you but im currently driving to my nearest VWKFC crossover venue, not yet on mushrooms and coke

@living8bit

@geordie

Ok, there's a U.S. GOP joke in there, but I'll restrain myself.

Sasha Strange

@geordie I'm pretty sure that these are custom made, rather than strategically peeled. The alignment is too close, the result too clean, for that. I have a similar image to this:

Peter Butler

@sasha_strange @geordie Yes, exactly. Also, KFC does not use “free range chickens” nor does it usually have mushrooms on its menu.

Tim Ellis 🦝

@peterbutler @sasha_strange @geordie and why would Mushrooms be capitalized? Pretty clearly satire.

DesRoin :fullstacklive:

@sasha_strange @geordie well that one could be seen as honest advertising though 😂👍🏻

Andrew "Ace" Arsenault

@geordie Mushrooms and Coke... So that's how they do the German engineering. : ]

Quills

@geordie
What a perfect aligning work they did there tho

@geordie Here’s the artist.They posted some of these to Reddit a couple years ago:

@chris_e_simpson @geordie Nice! In the 90s we used to have a similar sticker on random places street action, it was called "terrorismo poético" (poetic terrorism).

A mix between a bit of chaos, food for thought and acid criticism against corporations. This is the way.

Victor Forberger

@chris_e_simpson @geordie
Fokawolf has shown me the light of corporate synergy.

@devinprater @geordie Two things. One, this is glorious and I'm dead. And two, this is how you write an image description. As a blind person, I thank you.

Wraithe

@geordie reading this immediately made me think of the “Barbie Liberation Organization”

Grant Canterbury

@geordie Volkswagen does it... finger-licking good!

Russ Belville 🇺🇸🌲🎙🎸🌹

@geordie I can't offer any insight on tuber-designed chicken-burning cars, but driving them on cocaine and hallucinogens sounds fun.

Jack Deeth

@geordie I refuse to look up if this is fake or real.

Skyjester

@geordie Ahh... Famous Hunter S. Thompson quote. The next line is "Let's roll!"

Simon Worthington

@geordie the powers of locking text to a baseline have reached new hights

Javier Lázaro Sanz

@geordie I'm not really sure I should be driving on mushrooms and coke even if an ad tells me to 🤔

Sam

@geordie
that's just clever marketing, right there 😏

gahlord

@geordie I love these kinds of interventions. Absolutely love them.

Chrisshy Keygen

@geordie This is the brand colab I want to see!

VWxKFC 2023!

Michael Randall

@geordie the artist is Foka Wolf, from Birmingham, UK.

@geordie
I want to drive on mushrooms and coke!

Space Hobo Actual

@geordie Ugh, it should be "powered by" not "powered on"...

It is I, Paul.

@geordie I'm as sure as I can be that it's Photoshopped. Still delivers the lols though 😅

Geordie Pordy Puddin’ n’ Pie

@pauledevans when I posted it a few people chipped in with who the artist is. They do a bit of stuff like this.

woolfhound

@geordie I don’t understand it but I want it.

Heinzenstein

@geordie
Experience advertising on mushroom & coke.

Kjoobe

@geordie designed by handpicked potatoes? Wow, that is even better than expected when I see a VW on the road. 😂

Vic

@geordie driving on mushrooms and coke, ah, those were the days

juuro

@geordie I mean the potatoe part is probably true. 🇩🇪🥔

Ben

@geordie i see nothing wrong with this 😂

Rob C

@geordie The Germans and the American South - a powerful combination! 🐓 🚗

Its Gregory

@geordie That grin and bear it was invigorating 😂

Dave Friedel ℠

@geordie did. ChatGPT write that marketing message?

JaykeBird

@geordie for those who don't know, this is a fake advertisement (or, I should say, combo of advertisements)

Artist is here: instagram.com/p/B7q6Idfjsru/?i

Christian Berger DECT 2763

@geordie "designed by a team of hand picked potatoes"... that kinda sums up automotive engineering in Germany.

Chris "Not So" Short 🇺🇦

@geordie You know someone looked at that, laughed, then approved it.

Adron 🤘🏻

@geordie @kavla I’ve no idea but I’m game to give it a go!

zbecker

@geordie

I don't know about you, but I would love to test drive this car

BillStewart415

@geordie It also implies that KFC sells cooked mushrooms, which would be nice of them :-) (Though I really want the potato wedges back.)

Amileoj

@geordie If nothing else, it catches the eye...

Geordie Pordy Puddin’ n’ Pie

@danmac yeah I periodically mute it. Weeks after it I still get people responding, some of them to tell me who the original person was that did it and accuse me of some weird sort of copyright theft.

Dan MacLeod

@geordie when I first saw it I just wanted to know the KFC that sold Mushrooms and Coke :P

Ryan Poirier

@geordie lost me at the part where KFC uses mushrooms as an ingredient in anything.

NilaJones

@geordie

The last line had me literally slapping my thigh 😄

Matt Spurrier

@geordie experience driving on mushrooms and coke eh.... I think that's what they've been trying..... 😂

Peters J Vecrumba

@geordie

Are we sure that's not ChatGPT opining on the automotive future?
