mystery algae (if anyone knows what this is, it remains unidentified, and you can make OP very happy by solving this!)

neat-deadandive-things: (series of screenshots with captions) Found some algae today in an old broken growth chamber Labels are faded and nobody recognises the species All we know is that it's producing spores Am I in the beginning of a horror movie? Not even 100% sure it's algae Oh this is for sure going to kill me The photos are first of jars, then a close-up of unlabelled jars of a yellowish liquid, then close-ups of reddish spores. neat-deadandiive-things: I had some other work to do this morning (Figuring out some algae stuff involving 1000 L mesocosm up a mountain) so mystery species has been sitting alone in the lab all morning.....

According to a few colleagues it's either a plant, an algae, or a fungi. So that's been helpful. After a day with some sunlight I think I might be seeing some chioroplasts.
