@ivory I really like the one tap to view comments, personally, and love the inline counts. I’m glad you’re making it a preference. I _think_ the current view might be the better default, as it aligns with other Mastodon clients?

It feels like the action buttons plus the retweet / private mention badges eat into the amount of posts that are visible

For mentions in the notifications tab, maybe you could implement the same swipe gesture to open post details? I’m so used to the Tapbots way being tap for actions, swipe for details.

@ivory initially I hated the actions drawer because it hid all the buttons and action counts. I got used to it quickly though, and seeing all the buttons shown by default today has made it clear how much I like the clean timeline you get when the drawer is hidden!

@ivory oh good, I hoped there would be a way to hide it again! it’s oddly weird to try and retrain my finger brain to go from tap then star, to just star! 🤣 having the number next to the stars and boosts etc is great.

@ivory the buttons feel oversized in the timeline to me compared to other apps.

Might be the color is to prominent or the line weight is too heavy: but I think they stick out too much ATM

Don’t like how cluttered the action buttons make the timeline.

@ivory it’s a tricky design problem. The icons on every post clutter to much but i do love one tap to go to detail. If there was a way to declutter actions while keeping one tap to detail…

@ivory I like the new option, but I like the hidden actions a bit more. One thing that I slightly dislike about the new actions is that there’s a lot of spacing above and below the icons.

@ivory actually it’s one of main reasons prefer Ivory over day Mona. Much prefer the cleaner look. 99% of the time I never use the action buttons so good to be hidden.

@ivory Perfect as I keep accidentally hitting post actions as I’m scrolling. Plus I like the minimal look, so the drawer was great.

@ivory I was happy to try and also give it a few days to adjust to so I appreciate what you were trying to do.
However, if you hit sections of your timeline or in this example viewing the shorter replies to your post, it imho looks messy and cluttered, take your eyes back and you are mainly looking at a screen full of repetitive icons overpowering the actual content.
Useful to try but old way for me thank you.

@ivory I definitely prefer it the new way. Hiding them was the only part about tweetbot that I didn’t like, and I was sort of resigned to it here as well. I’m super glad we’ll get the option! Obviously there are people who super prefer hidden buttons.
