@pixelfed I think $10-15 would be a fair price. With higher tiers for more storage etc.

Phil Amour

@pixelfed wouldn’t mind paying for a single Pixelfed.social account

Brandon Kraft ❤️‍🔥🧡

@pixelfed it's definitely interesting. Maybe tiers? I was toying with the idea of self-hosting as a photoblog for myself, so $15+ is steep for that.

If I had my family or community on there, $15+ is more in play.

@pixelfed What link do you recommend for learning about Pixelfed, where the intended audience is an iCloud Photos customer?

Tom Wolfskämpf

@pixelfed I think this is a great deal and would greatly increase the accessibility of the Fediverse to small groups and invididuals without the necessary technical knowledge.

I'm just not personally in the market for this service right now but can already think of a few people or groups I would recommend this to.

@pixelfed This is a great deal!

For those wondering, I am paying $19/month for a solo instance (at @darnell@darnell.app) hosted by fedi.monster (who is doing a fantastic job but is no longer accepting new clients).

If @dansup does this, it could help persuade some of my friends & family to ditch #Instagram for #Pixelfed. 😀

EdenDestroyer (He/Him)

@pixelfed the options are "yes" and "show results"? What?

David Fleetwood - RG Admin

@pixelfed Potentially yes. What I'd really like to see is a Fediverse stack with all the major services and a shared account pool but that would be a significant technical challenge from what I can determine.

Matt Kowal

@pixelfed I agree with some other comments that a tiered hosting offering would be nice. Patiently awaiting the Android client.

Jarjan (He/Him)

@pixelfed potentially yes... 15/m would be a bit much for myself alone,but maybe if I could get one or two friends interested to join me. (And I'd like to integrate the photos into my other website, is there a good wordpress integration plugin?)

Thomas

@pixelfed
Can I split this among my family members? For example, we all pay 3$/month each?

Fabian (Bocchi) 🏳️‍🌈

@pixelfed 15 is to much to start off. Once the instance is grown thats something, but you'll start alone, maybe with a few others (<15)

Shane Afsar

@pixelfed Curious — where is media and data stored?

David Collantes

@pixelfed I think this poll has issues. “Yes”, and “Show results” only are rather poor options for it. Unless my client is broken…

You mean like a Red Hat type business model?

Eric the Cerise

@pixelfed

I'm guessing you think it's a funny joke, but forgetting the 'No' option just put me right off the idea.

Just my dos centavos.

@darnell

Ninad Pundalik

@pixelfed if more of my social circles are interested in an alternative to IG, I'll happily pay this amount and host them on that domain...

Blaine Cook

@pixelfed hah! I read that as $15/m for a single user account. This is a great model. Absolutely yes.

JustSteev

@pixelfed as long as you don’t kneecap self hosted instances or keep features behind a paywall.

OnTheFenceDev

@pixelfed I said yes based on a desire for a hosted solution. Yes I could host it myself but paying someone to look after the hardware and patches seems like a better idea.
A sliding scale or lite/standard/pro tiers with different storage limits might be nice though

Andrew Litschner :verified:

@pixelfed I’d rather host my own instance than pay for one. But the cost seems reasonable, and I understand spinning up your own instance is beyond the capability of a lot of people. This could be a good option.

FUCUBIDEN

@pixelfed Lol even rigging your poll like the 2016 presidential election couldn’t get you the result you wanted

Abbadon

@pixelfed I have no idea what most of that means.

KealaKay

@pixelfed
What happens if I say yes to everything?

Pi

@pixelfed
Ups, I pressed "show results" to see the results. Just to realise that was my vote.

f0rkb0mb

@pixelfed I would pay $100/yr for early access to features (like Plex Pass) and a Kubernetes deployable artifact (not docker swarm).

hannah

@pixelfed Yes, I am setting up a Pixelfed instance basically just for local friends that want something other than IG for art/photography stuff and I can see where if most of the other people in the group wanted to do this it would make more sense for them to have it be like Wordpress and just click to install it somewhere.
