I can't tell. What I can tell is that it still takes nearly a whole day for notifications to arrive.

The change was made 3 days ago, assuming it is was made part of pixelfed.social. guess we'll have to wait & hear what they say.

oh btw there were also talks about making the pixelfed web app a PWA like Mastodon's if I'm not mistaken.
