Gregory's ServerDisagree with the general statement. As so often in life, it's about integrity. I run a server which currently hosts 35.000+ people. I won't ever sell. People should get into the habit of reading the About pages of their servers. That allows them to judge and project. Mine is at https://home.social/about.

My comment was about the systemic dangers of the Fediverse existing primarily as a few large instances, which is not very different from the current social media model. Resiliency and sustainability need to be built from the ground up. Simply crossing our fingers and hoping for integrity doesn't seem like a very resilient model.
