Although looking at what the big hosting providers are charging, I might have to revise my costing downwards!

@wogan @george I had been working an a $10 baseline, which is a little more than masto.host. but that might not matter - their pricing model is very technical - I don't expect any of my customers to know how many Processing Threads they need :) But I also don't really know yet what it's going to cost until I've run an instance for a month and measured how much traffic and storage I'm paying for. Just watching these conversations, I've seen my estimates were way off! @uastronomer @george I'll be sharing 100% of the costs on https://about.mastodon.africa for the instance I'm running, but I'm forecasting about $100-$150/month for: * t3.medium EC2 VM When my first full month is completed I'll post the detailed per-service breakdown. @uastronomer @george 2 days in and $4 spent, I'm about on track for $60 in the first month, but I expect that to climb as the relays bring in more cached content to the S3 bucket. @uastronomer @george Arguably a t3.medium is overpowered for the current workload (I'm averaging like 5-10% CPU) but (a) deployments and frontend rebuilds are CPU-intensive and (b) I'd rather have the headroom to deal with surges in activity + ensure decent uptime. But we'll see how it goes! |
@uastronomer @george I don't know what the going rates are right now, but back in the day (2017) masto.host popped up: https://masto.host/pricing/
Is your pricing about in that ballpark?
