Time for myself to normalize using Mastodon instead of Twitter, I suppose. It's a big "marketing" loss for me: Twitter has been my source of knowledge, indirect income (gigs) and a way to explore the community around me. I will probably need to set up a cross-poster to keep some visibility... 13 comments

It's bittersweet β¦ I was also deeply saddened at the beginning. But it developed and now I really feel at home here and realize how much better I feel emotionally. Also in terms of marketing-loss, my fears did not materialize β interaction (and with a great quality) is much higher here with less followers. And it's a great opportunity to broaden your network: I'm following much more female / non-binary folks here. It just happened and I'm very happy about it. @ocramius While you're still "fresh" here, you might want to think about if you'd like to stick with the mastodon.social account or move to an alternative instance. Mostly because centralizing Mastodon on few big instances isn't a good idea.  @skobkin yes, I will set up my own too, but I cannot currently do that due to other priorities. @ocramius You and every independent creator, sadly. Especially artists, musicians, writers, activists, have been dealt a huge blow to their income and influence. Which is probably exactly what the muskrat wanted. |
