@Gargron From having read other reviews, it seems the script writers did not know clearly what they wished to achieve with this film. Add to it the whimsical directorial stylings of JJ Abrams and we have a fun-to-watch-but-ultimately-pointless film with a lot of unexplained loose ends. I wonβt bother watching this one in theatres. |
Ultimately the world of the sequels (and to some extent, the original trilogy) feels very small. There's a desert planet, a rainforest planet, and a Scottish highlands planet. And because they're all occupied by (or soon-visited-by) the Empire and its derivatives, all you ever see is the same uniformed enemies.
