@Gargron @ashlock not uncommon at all. Lots of the smaller instances run by some random dude out of a server in their basement have pinned posts requesting money, whether Bitcoin or whatever else. I don't think I've ever seen Patreon before, as it is uses freedom-denying closed source SaaS to facilitate transactions, which is general frowned upon by a significant portion of the 'verse.
