@darius heh, sorry. Just fishing for something like “that sounds like a terrible idea because federation traffic kills quotas”. I will experiment and share! @gerwitz according to their FAQ, Railway does not "encourage" ssh'ing in and getting a shell, and you're going to need shell access on the actual server at some point or another I think (if you are the technical admin). At that point I would recommend getting a managed host like SpaceBear or Fedi Monster @darius ah, thanks. I guess I ought to run a test install locally just to learn things like “this isn’t just a Rails app” 😆 @gerwitz It's a rails app with a react frontend and a bunch of services that aren't just the rails DB, like a sidekiq redis queue, etc. It might work in Railway! I just can't imagine doing this without at least occasional shell access @darius since I have your attention… how do you differentiate Hometown vs. glitch-soc? My own needs seem well addressed by both (better embedded-media handling, local posts) |
