@pixelfed Why aren’t instances like this limiting the number of users instead of overextending themselves like this?

@pixelfed thank you for putting out the fire. intrigued to hear about the post mortem and clever solutions in due time.

PS i have no clue as to the internals whatsoever, and its probably and all or nothing, but suppose if federation ceased on the local & federated TL but continued elsewhere, would that help at all, or not really, because it couldnt work that way, or if it did it wouldnt make a diff.
