  We have to temporarily disable federation so our job queue can catch up, again we're sorry about this! This is a last resort solution aside from a total outage.  @pixelfed Why aren’t instances like this limiting the number of users instead of overextending themselves like this?  @pixelfed thank you for putting out the fire. intrigued to hear about the post mortem and clever solutions in due time. PS i have no clue as to the internals whatsoever, and its probably and all or nothing, but suppose if federation ceased on the local & federated TL but continued elsewhere, would that help at all, or not really, because it couldnt work that way, or if it did it wouldnt make a diff.  @pixelfed Thanks for the info and explaining the current performance issues.
