Pixelfed remains the only fediverse project with a sole developer*, and I'm doing my best to balance everything πŸ˜…

My schedule for the next few weeks involves:

- new pixelfed.org
- new mobile app features
- android beta
- new fedidb.org
- federated discovery
- federation bug fixes
- improving backend scalability

* - frontend/backend/mobile app development

@dansup you're doing a great job for all the fediverse!

@dansup is this a sustainable foundation for pixelfed? It seems contra to the distributed aspirations of Fediverse for development of this platform be centralised in this manner. Completely valid for you to run the project as you see fit, but wanted to highlight the contradiction.

dansup

@thisislawatts It's not sustainable in the long term, and the bus factor is a real concern.

I'm hoping to get more contributors onboard next year once things are a bit more stable.

@dansup πŸ€— glad it is something you are mindful/open to. I appreciate that scaling the contributor community is a non trivial exercise. Hugely impressed with what you've achieved so far with Pixelfed and keen to see it continue.

@dansup I think, the mobile app should be the ultimate priority seeing as how everyone I recommend pixelfed to first asks "where is the mobile app"?

Dude, you’re a fucking superhero, OK? Start posting links to your Patreon, etc. a bit more so we can boost them, and then think about all the other things that need doing.

@dansup

No way that claim is true with all the many tiny fediverse projects and forks out there.

dansup

@just_a_frog Can you name any project that is doing frontend + backend development AND building their own mobile app?

There are lots of solo fedi projects yes, but how many of them are also building a mobile app?

@dansup

I don't know tbh, but I also wasn't the one making the initial claim, was I? So I'm not sure the burden of proof should be on me here.

I just feel like a statement like that, especially when the supposedly relevant part is added via asterisk, can read a bit like brushing over the many individuals who do put a lot of effort into their own projects and might not be as well known (yet), even though I'm sure that wasn't intentional.

@dansup You're doing a great job. Pixelfed is already very good! Looking forward to the new features.

@dansup from what I can tell you’re doing a great job. You should be proud. πŸ‘πŸ»

@dansup Not sure if you check Twitter DMs but couldn’t find a better way to reach out to you. I might know an interested iOS dev but we had trouble finding the repo for the app :)

Dansup: I just installed pixelfed last night and am not seeing cross posts between my pixelfed and mastodon instances. Is this a known thing? Or do I have some bug research and reporting to do?

@dansup Hey! I just wanna ask if pixel uses matrix which in returns collect too many data than any? So, how its a foss alternative. We should own the data.

@dansup Thanks for Pixelfed! Loving it so far. I have a question. I signed up on the Pixelfed.social instance, and tried to follow my Pixelfed account from within Mastadon.

But, when I check it on my Following list, it shows as β€œpending,” as if it’s waiting for me to approve it on the Pixelfed side.

I duplicated this behaviour on another instance (federated.photos).

How do I get the follow to be confirmed, rather than pending?
