My god I'm disgusted at all this "millennial tech" shit. They gave my dad two google nest devices (speakers), fortunately for free.

I didn't know much about those devices because, honestly, I couldn't care less. So I thought they were bluethoot speakers. Oh boy I was so wrong.

In order to "pair" them, you need to install the app (google home) in one of your android devices (most likely your phone), then enable your wifi, bluethoot AND, wait to hear this... your GPS. Yeah, apparently it needs your GPS data for something, we don't know what. Fortunately the GPS does not work properly while inside so whatever.

Then you have to add the device, it then appears in your phone (probably through bluetooth), then you connect the device to the WiFi, and then you can finally start using it.

Well, "using" it. The device is intended to be connected to other services such as Spotify, Youtube, Youtube Music, etc. You can send audio to them... but it doesn't work. The audio stutters and the quality is terrible anyways. But then when I tried to pair both speakers, the app stopped working and I couldn't send any more audio to them.

So after trying to fiddle a little bit with them, I said "fuck it". Unplugged them (they don't even have a battery, they need to be connected to the power to work all the time), stored them in their boxes, and that's the end of it.

"You just like 90s tech only because of your nostalgia" NO.
I like old tech because OLD TECH DOES NOT ASK ME TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET AND PROVIDE THEM WITH MY HOME LOCATION, MY WIFI NETWORK INFORMATION, AND ALSO OPEN A MICROPHONE INSIDE OF MY HOUSE FOR THOSE ON GOOGLE TO LISTEN TO ME.

But seriously, even a bluethoot speaker would have been much better. And less expensive. We got them for free but each one costs 59€ according to what I'm seeing.

Considering their bad quality, who's buying this crap!? No wonder why they are gifting them while making new customer contracts.
