@philvuchetich If there's a song in my home timeline I may want to listen to the song while I continue scrolling, rather than having to stay in one place until it's finished. Same with some videos. Personally I rarely let a video play out while I am scrolling away unless I am interested in continuing to watch it. I either don't play it in the first place or stop it.

@Gargron @philvuchetich I don't have input on the implementation options, but I'd vote for either having the float be an assertion of intent in the originating media component (eg a PiP button) or ensure the element is dismissible when it appears in case that is unwanted behaviour and/or conforms to spec such that if PiP is disabled on the client, it does not trigger. (w3c.github.io/picture-in-pictu)
