New from 404 Media: Facebook is deleting internal employee criticism of its new board hire UFC president and CEO Dana White. Facebook also deleting internal employee posts asking why the first ones deleted 404media.co/facebook-deletes-i

"Kind of disheartening to see people in the comments celebrating a man who is on video assaulting his wife and another who was recently convicted of rape,โ€ one employee commented, referring to White and McGregor. "I can kind of excuse individuals for being unaware, but Meta surely did their due diligence on White and concluded that what he did is fine. | feel like I'm on another planet,โ€ another employee commented. โ€œWe have completely lost the plot,โ€ a third said.

@FediThing @josephcox No, this is who Zuckerberg has ALWAYS been. People just ignored it because they thought they were getting a free website to share their selfies on.

@josephcox this is the same company that was started by the guy who had all these consent violations early on right?

@josephcox @mhoye internal propaganda efforts are going to get heavy investment in coming days

@josephcox Surprise! Meta applies to its internal forum the moderation rules it used to apply to its users...

Todd

@josephcox One must admit, however, that deleting complaints about complaint deletion is actually very small-m meta.

All corporations are autocracies. Try criticizing the company or CEO...

While Dana White is a Neanderthal who doesnโ€™t belong on any corporate board, I have some sympathy here for FB. How many companies would let you post derogatory (albeit perhaps true) comments about a board member on the break room cork board?

What WOULD be a problem would be if they were censoring that content from non-employees on their public site.

Let's hope that FB has lots of whistleblowers who keep us informed. Because regulations certainly aren't doing that.

Amazon too. Twitter too. Reddit. All of them. I dream of living in a world where people care more about the substance of a thing than how it makes them feel. Because people stay on those platforms for the feels & dopamine hits. But it's all dishonest. It will take you to a dark place every time.

@josephcox i know full well that ethical employment under capitalism is very hard, especially in tech, but some of these employee comments have serious "are we the baddies?" vibes. i gotta wonder why this the breaking point for them when Cambridge Analytica and Myanmar were not
