@Radical_EgoCom I take issue with the framing of the question. “Should capitalism be abolished?” implies someone or some group would have a great deal of power over a whole lot of resources and people. In other words, the word “abolished” reflects a certain way of viewing and interacting in the world that may not be helpful or healthy for humanity in the long run. Perhaps, what we need is maturation or evolution of our systems, rather than mere destruction. (History shows that destruction is often followed by various forms of repression that are only partially effective anyway. They abolished the Tsar and ended up with Stalin. We abolished slavery, yet we still have slavery by other means under new names.) Should we look to transform, outgrow, move through an economic order that is killing us? yes, certainly. Should we become despots or simply create hell on earth in never ceasing attempts to force the world to be a certain way through violence? no.

We're talking about capitalism here. What exactly is there to "mature" or "evolve" with capitalism that would do the working class better than simply abolishing capitalism, the private ownership of the means of production, and replacing it with socialism, the collective ownership of the means of production, in other words,... 1/2

@IndyHermit

...how would it benefit the working class more by allowing a small minority of people to control the means of production as opposed to gaining control over the means of production through collective ownership? 2/2
