Mastodon vs Pixelfed menu

I like how Mastodon has Mute/Block options, but don't like the separate share button. On the flip side you have to go to the profile to Mute/Block on the Pixelfed app. Is that a fair compromise, or should I add Mute/Block to our menu too?

@dansup To be honest, when I want to mute or block someone, I usually don't want to go to their profile to see more of what they've posted. So I'd say that mute/block on individual posts is helpful.

@dragfyre @dansup I agree, I don't want to go to the profile to be able to mute/block..it's much more easily accessible in the menu...the report seems more serious and doesn't need to be so upfront

@dansup I'd expect to see a 'Block Profile' in red text right below 'View Profile' within this submenu. As @dragfyre says, I wouldn't want to visit their profile when I want to block them.

@dansup I agree with many of the replies. I think it's best to have a way to block/mute people without going to their profile, but it should be visually distinct from the rest of the buttons (probably just have it in red and pop up a warning before blocking).

@dansup Let us block people quickly, especially on mobile, its a bandwidth saver.

@dansup Mute/block on dot menu. If I'm trying to stop seeing a certain type of content, I don't want to go to a spot where I'll definitely see more first and then have to dig around for a block button.

@dansup maybe a user button with the options of view profile or mute?

@dansup most of the time muting and blocking is done as a quick reaction to a single post we're not in the mood to tolerate at that moment for whatever reason.
Being the Fediverse as it is I'd prefer it to force me to go to the user's profile. It's not as comfortable as muting a whole thread of people on the go, but it's fair to have a chance to think things over and not judge a whole profile over a single post.

@dansup I would create another button called "More" where those options are included, because the current menu looks really nice, and it wouldn't be great if it's being destroyed by two more buttons.

@dansup i keep asking every few months without answers. but is there any ETA on the facebook groups type feature? or has it been abandoned?

i never managed to get into instagram. and as flashy and awesome pixelfed is. i can't really find a way to get into it, just like instagram. but what the fediverse needs is an actual competitor to META.

as in: fb groups, messenger, and instagram - the only thing people mostly use them for nowadays. please become this!
