@neauoire I don't want to be intrusive and I know this might be a bit ignorant, but I'm genuine when I ask how have you been subsisting? I've been freelancing for some years and I've had some rough times. Do you mean job as in fixed/9-to-5? Do you guys get your income from your products? Crowd funding? or freelancing/remote projects?

@visionsmind No no, it's no intrusive at all, feel to ask me anything if this is not answering all your questions.

So, by job I mean 9 to 5, or even freelance. I don't do either freelance not office work, I live on about 9000$/year, our main income is Patreon, it account for about about 90% of our incoming.

@neauoire Thank you! Hah so its crowd funding. Are the patrons doing it for the maintenance/work you guys do with your projects and FOSS stuff? There's a lot of ppl using patreon as income but I see mostly providing either entertainment or educational/resources (esp on YouTube) in exchange. It also seems to require some community surrounding the project. But damn it's so cool that that's a possibility but yet feels so foreign/unattainable.

@visionsmind It's hard to tell, I think it's a mixed of different things, some patreons back us for the maintenance on Orca, others for the sailing diaries, others I think they just like watching us play with computery things.

We don't really offer a product like a monthly video or anything like that, I think, at least I hope, that they're supporting us for our daily little experimentations that we try to document as best we can.
