@piratenpanda @trwnh I think you are confusing Trending & federation.

Trending already federates in the sense that remote instances can build their own trending graph based on activities they observe.

New instances without any connections won't know about remote trending posts.

I'm working on a solution for this, it will involve a short term centralized API until we can work out the finer details!
