It's often discussed how male failure is a social issue we need to solve. Perhaps we don’t need to solve it. Those who are capable of adapting will. Those who are not won't be passing along their legacy.

@JoeChip @Daojoan is there some sense that only our best people are reproducing?

JoeChip

@Iwillyeah @Daojoan
Conflicting or ambiguous data on this. Just a guess, but my sense is that fewer women are choosing to birth. Who those that do are picking as mates I really don't know.

Whether we like it or not, it's going to happen.

@JoeChip @n_dimension @Iwillyeah @Daojoan that's the thing: we can lower our numbers by choice, or nature will do it. All sorts of collapses are underway (not like Revelation or anything, just inevitable consequence of our insatiable hunger). We will go down to extinction before we give up a single convenience. The race is on: will we kill ourselves before we render the planet inimical to life?

@JoeChip @n_dimension @Iwillyeah @Daojoan in the US it has been happening since 2007. During the last recession women decided it wasn’t worth having babies if we’re not going to get any paid time off and if we can’t buy a house.

And the birth rates never recovered, then Covid came along and women learned that the free babysitter isn’t always open. And if it’s closed and they can’t go to work there’s no social safety net for them.

So we have seized the means of producing human capital stock, and we have shut it down. The ROI is NOT WORTH IT and they can’t make women unsee how used and abused we have been.

@Iwillyeah @JoeChip @Daojoan Or that people's lineage before them, or random chance for that matter, does not affect the offspring?

CohenTheBlue

@Iwillyeah @JoeChip @Daojoan Natural does not equal good. If we want good, we must influence nature and ourselves.

Iwillyeah

@cohentheblue @JoeChip @Daojoan that's whatll get us out of this mess! More hubris!

CohenTheBlue

@Iwillyeah @JoeChip @Daojoan Do you think hope and will to be hubris?

What's your alternative?

Iwillyeah

@JoeChip @Daojoan suddenly aware I have invited a conversation on eugenics. Fuck that noise, entirely.

I just noticed the OP's screenshot cited cited evolutionary psychology as the basis for its analysis. That particular academic field has developed a bad odor - it's perceived as a kind of reboot of social darwinism.

Veronica Olsen 🏳️‍🌈🇳🇴🌻

@JoeChip @Iwillyeah @Daojoan Yeah, evolutionary psychology is not a credible science. A lot of what they output is outright pseudo-science.

The observation in the OP screenshot is interesting still, even if the analysis may not be worth the pixels it's rendered on.

I'd say the social issue we need to solve is looking at things through the lens of success vs. failure. For most things, that's a false and utterly unnecessary dichotomy.

@JoeChip @Daojoan

@EverydayMoggie @Daojoan
I mean "success" in a wider sense that includes some sense of being a worthwhile and contributing person in society rather than disposable trash in the landfill of history. Which is what half of men in the US essentially are.

moggie

In a way, this is what I mean. People should not have to earn "being worthwhile." If you exist, you're worthwhile.

@JoeChip @Daojoan

JoeChip

@EverydayMoggie @Daojoan
I completely agree. Unfortunately this is not a concept endorsed by society.

Fleur Vervenne

@EverydayMoggie @JoeChip @Daojoan we need to adjust what success means...
Right now it seems that "success" getd equated with "winning"

And that's not right...

We only see the big winner as a success,
And not the oanting man that came in last at the marathon ... people will say "well, he failed" but he didn't...what if his goal was finishing a marathon?

Did he still fail?

JoeChip

@Fleurvervenne @EverydayMoggie @Daojoan

He did not fail in following his internal compass. Some will fight to be someone even though it may mean nothing to anyone else.

But we actually do live in a society. Those devalued by society or without support have only their internal compass to guide them and it is often not enough. Those that eventually give up become existential failures.

Their lives mean nothing to them. A kind of depression that is based on a sense of personal illegitimacy.

Oh great.
We are going to end up with an abundance of square jawed vapid asshole who start the day by grabbing their testes-like-chin and shouting at the mirror.
"This day belongs to you Brad!"

@n_dimension @Daojoan
There's no social consensus around how to create better men. There's no interest in creating such a consensus as far as I can detect (either among women or men). Not sure what, if anything, will help.

@JoeChip @n_dimension @Daojoan
I get the reproductive thing was mostly a provocation, but I would start by getting rid of Herbert Spencer's ideas from our thoughts. :)

@girlnamedwar @JoeChip @n_dimension @Daojoan
The theoretician of social darwinism, a bootlicker shit.

Edwige de Dood

@NicholasLaney @JoeChip @n_dimension @Daojoan might have to loom him up as i still dont know who that is...

For a moment I thought "Googlehainm" was some sort of interwebs slang for artful google technique and now that I found out it's just dislexia...
...I'm going to use it in conversation to make it a thing.

BRB Googlehainming.

Edwige de Dood replied to Wulfy

@n_dimension @NicholasLaney @JoeChip @Daojoan for me its both dyslectia, being tired but insomniac, and somewhat triggered...

Although funniky enough one of my drafts titles came from a dyslectic typed word.

CohenTheBlue replied to Edwige de Dood

@girlnamedwar @n_dimension @NicholasLaney @JoeChip @Daojoan Sorry, I didn't realize, mostly people just say some variation of "haven't woken up" and that they're dyslexic. Still entertaining though, happy little accidents 💙

Edwige de Dood replied to CohenTheBlue

@cohentheblue @n_dimension @NicholasLaney @JoeChip @Daojoan

@JoeChip @n_dimension @Daojoan I believe the governments were trying to use women as a carrot to get the NEETs of the world to engage with capitalism.

The andrew tates were paid to spread nonsense and hate to try to get men to achieve so they can attract women who practice hypergamy. And instead of motivating men to participate in capitalism they have decided to hate women and blame us for their inability to participate in capitalism “correctly”.

And they’re MAD. Last year I was saying that we need an adjustment day Chuck Palahniuk style, but then I heard trump wants to have a purge (but the cops are the only ones allowed to purge) so maybe not that.

@JoeChip @Daojoan failed men are adapting by electing regressive leaders.

Title IX helped level the playing field for girls in school and now they are outperforming boys. Perhaps because earlier female brain development can shine through now? We need policies to help boys catch up.

@JoeChip @Daojoan I laugh so hard at the idea that this is a problem that we are supposed to solve. It’s funny that rather than be someone a woman would want to live with these guys are trying to pass laws to take away our rights so we are forced to live with them. Do they understand what happens when they force someone to prepare meals for someone who hates them? Good luck boys.

On the other hand, 65k rape pregnancies have occurred in Red States alone since Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Rapists get to choose their children's mother now, thanks to the #fascist #GOP.
