This is a big list of FOSS creative tools that I've been contributing to. There's a ton on it and it's still growing. There's even a Game Dev section with lots of resources (I have a couple minor additions to put up later today, as well).

@hazelnot: GDevelop is an awesome engine to start with. It's like GameMaker, but free and open source with lots of cool features.
